It may have sneaked by unnoticed by many but June 2022 saw quite a few changes to the Building Regulations. These are technical standards that building works have to comply with so make sure your designer has allowed for these in any design.
The main change for home improvement works is the increase in thermal insulation standards for roofs, walls and floors. For example, it is likely you will have to increase cavity walls by 50mm to meet the new standards which will increase the overall external wall thickness to around 380mm including finishes. Insulation changes to roofs can also affect head room in loft conversions so check this with your designer.
